1. PERSONNEL

2. COMMISSIONS & TERMS OF PAYMENT

A. Local retail rate is non-commissionable. National Rates only are commissionable (see 4C). Local retail rates are allowed only to local retail and service establishments dealing directly with consumers in our circulation area.

B. All accounts are due upon receipt.

C. Past due accounts will be referred to the Kinney County Justice of the Peace for collections.

3. ADVERTISING RATE POLICIES

Rates may be raised on 30 days notice.

4. ADVERTISING RATES

A. Retail Advertising rate (non-commissionable)

OPEN RATE $4.40/col. inch.

B. Per column inch rate: $4.40/column inch. All advertising is billed at gross and due upon receipt of monthly invoice.

C. National Advertising Rate (commissionable)

$4.40 per column inch. National rate is commissionable for payment by 15th of month following publication. 15% allowed to recognized advertising agencies. Camera ready copy must be provided with written insertion orders. No camera-ready discount.

D. Composition Charges

No charge except for the following:

Photo & Halftone ................... $10

Reversal ............................... $ 5

E. Preprinted Inserts (non-commissionable)

.15 cents per column inch with a minimum of charge of $72.00 per insert.

5. COLOR RATES

Color is available at $50 per color per page. No Maximum or minimum size. Orders must be placed by 12 noon Monday. Color advertisements requiring special artwork, color separations, etc. are subject to special charges.

6. SPECIAL SERVICES

A. Proofs will be delivered if requested for ads 15 inches or more, providing all copy has been submitted by deadline (Tuesday @ noon for Thursdays paper). All other ads will be available for proofing at our office.

B. Tearsheets will be provided at the advertisers request.

C. Advertising layout services are available for $15 per hour. Charges by the tenth of an hour.

D. Clip art services are available to advertisers at no charge

7. SPECIAL DAYS AND FEATURES

A variety of special editions are printed during the year. Including the Hunter’s Guide, the Voter Guide, Football Preview, July 4th Soldier Salute, Thanksgiving Shopper, Christmas Wishes Edition, etc. Ad rates vary in these editions.

8. CONTRACT AND COPY POLICIES

A. Retail advertising rates will apply, only to an advertiser who owns or operates one or more retail businesses.

B. Liability for errors in advertisements shall not exceed the cost of the space occupied by the error. All liability concerns must be submitted in writing within 14 days of last print date.

C. The Brackett News reserves the right to refuse any advertisement.

D. Every effort will be made to meet reasonable position requests. Failure to meet these request will not constitute cause for adjustments, refunds or rerun.

E. No liability exists on the part of the newspaper if an advertisement is omitted, but, of course, the advertiser will not be charged if an advertisement is not published.

F. The advertiser assumes total responsibility for advertising content and agrees not to hold The Brackett News liable for any claims that may arise.

9. DEADLINES

The deadline for all advertisements is at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

10. MECHANICAL MEASUREMENTS

A. Printing method: The Brackett News is printed on a modern, web-fed offset press. Slick proofs, black and white art and black and white photographs or halftone screens from 65 to 85 lines are preferred for best reproduction.

B. Standard sizes (6 column): Size of printed area is 13 inches wide by 21" deep.

3 columns 6 7/16"

4 columns 8 5/8"

5 columns 10 13/16"

6 columns 13"

DOUBLE TRUCK (two facing pages across gutter) is 26 3/4" wide by 21" deep. This is billed as 13 columns wide.

11. SPECIAL CLASSIFICATIONS

A. Political rate: Charged at national display rate. Ads must be paid for in advance. Political ads must conform to all state and federal requirements, including disclaimer statements.

B. Real estate advertisers: Real estate companies that run an ad more than 45 weeks per year will be charged a reduced rate of $2.25 per column inch.

C. Church advertisers: Churches that run an ad more than 45 weeks per year will be charged a reduced rate of $1.95 per column inch.

D. Service Directory: Businesses advertising in the Service Directory will be charged $7.00 per week.

12. CLASSIFIED RATES

A. Classified Display: $4.40 per column inch.

B. Word classified: Minimum charge $3.00 for up to 10 words, 20 cents per word thereafter. All classified will be paid in advance.

13. CIRCULATION

The Brackett News has a circulation of 1,050, primarily in Kinney and surrounding counties. Cost is 50 cents per single copy. Subscription cost is $25 per year in Kinney County, $33 for Local Winter Texan, $36 for Zip Code Prefix 788, 780, 781, 782 $36 and $43 for Basic out of county and out of state.
